⭐ Rejab, the seventh month of the Islamic lunar calendar, holds a special place in the hearts of Muslims worldwide. It is one of the four sacred months mentioned in the Quran, during which acts of worship and good deeds are highly encouraged, and sins are to be avoided. The month serves as a spiritual precursor to Ramadan, offering an opportunity for believers to prepare their hearts and minds for the holy month ahead.
🌟 Rejab: A Sacred Month
In Surah At-Tawbah (9:36), Allah states:
إِنَّ عَدَدَ الشُّهُورِ عِنْدَ اللهِ اثْنَا عَشَرَ شَهْرًا فِي كِتَابِ اللهِ يَوْمَ خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ مِنْهَا أَرْبَعَةٌ حُرُمٌ
The sacred months—Muharram, Rejab, Dhu al-Qa‘dah, and Dhu al-Hijjah—are distinguished by their sanctity. During Rejab, Muslims are encouraged to increase their acts of worship, including prayer, fasting, and seeking forgiveness. The sanctity of this month calls for heightened mindfulness and a commitment to righteousness.
🕌 The Night Journey (Isra and Mi'raj)
One of the most significant events associated with Rejab is the Isra and Mi'raj, the miraculous night journey of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). On this blessed night, the Prophet was taken from Masjid al-Haram in Makkah to Masjid al-Aqsa in Jerusalem and then ascended to the heavens. During this journey, the five daily prayers were established as a gift to the Muslim Ummah. Reflecting on this event during Rejab reminds believers of the importance of prayer and the closeness it fosters with Allah.
🍴 Virtues of Fasting in Rejab
Fasting during Rejab is a recommended act of worship, though it is not obligatory. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
🌙 Teaching Rejab at The Daras
At our online madrasa, The Daras, we place a strong emphasis on educating our students about the significance of Rejab. Through interactive sessions, storytelling, and reflective discussions, we aim to instill a deep appreciation for this sacred month. Our curriculum highlights the importance of acts such as fasting, increased prayer, and self-reflection during Rejab.
We also delve into the historical and spiritual aspects, such as the Night Journey (Isra and Mi'raj), helping students connect with the profound lessons it offers. As Allah mentions in the Quran:
وَمَنْ يُعَظِّمْ شَعَائِرَ اللَّهِ فَإِنَّهَا مِنْ تَقْوَى الْقُلُوبِ
"And whoever honors the symbols of Allah - indeed, it is from the piety of hearts." (Surah Al-Hajj: 32)
Through our teachings, we encourage students to embody the values of this sacred month, fostering a lifelong commitment to righteousness and devotion. ✨
